June 2026

Bury League: Cambridge Examiners were clear winners of the Division One Championship.

In our first season having re-entered the Cambridgeshire League: Cambridge finished a convincing second place (behind St Ives).

Cambridge City regained the Fenland Cup after winning the final on a tie-break against St Ives.

June 2025

Bury Area League Division 1: the Cambridge teams finished second and third.

June 2024

Bury League Division 1: the Cambridge Bollards were pipped by Linton, with Cambridge Examiners third and Cambridge Choristers fifth.

Cambridge won the Fenland Cup for the third successive season.

Prof. John Daugman was the President of Cambridge City chess club for about a decade until his death on 11th June 2024. He was also a distinguished computer scientist — an obituary from the University of Cambridge is here.

In the 2022-23 BACL season, our team the Examiners won first place by a very wide margin, and our Choristers took third place.

Julia Volovich (a junior member of our Club) won the 2022 British under-18 Girls Championship.

In the 2021-22 season of the Bury Area Chess League, our two teams in Div-1, the Examiners and the Choristers (one of whose players is Julia Volovich) won first and second places, on 29 points and 25 points respectively.
