Club events 2024-25

Wednesday 4th June: Last games of the Club Championship and BACL, plus other rated or friendly games.

Wednesday 11th June: John Daugman Memorial event.

Prof. John Daugman was the President of Cambridge City chess club for about a decade until his death on 11th June 2024. He was also a distinguished computer scientist — an obituary from the University of Cambridge is here.

For the anniversary of his passing, we will commemorate by presenting some of John Daugman's best games and combinations. If you have a game, game-fragment or combination played by John that you would like to share with the club, please contact Philip Fallon.

Wednesday 18th June: Annual General Meeting.

Wednesday 25th June: Social evening: Time-handicap tournament.

The club will then close for July and August, re-opening again on Wednesday 3rd September.

Julia Volovich (a junior member of our Club) has won the 2022 British under-18 Girls Championship. Julia Volovich is 2022 British U18 Girls Champion


In the 2022-23 BACL season, our team the Examiners won first place by a very wide margin, and our Choristers took third place.


In the 2021-22 season of the Bury Area Chess League, our two teams in Div-1, the Examiners and the Choristers (one of whose players is Julia Volovich) won first and second places, on 29 points and 25 points respectively.
